Gleichapel, a storefront window revealing a mini “white cube” on rue Debelleyme in the upper Marais neighborhood in Paris, is back after a two-year hiatus. The space hosts “The Fables of the Fountain,” the second edition of a collective and itinerant project, after the initial presentation at Super Dakota Gallery in Brussels organized by Hugo Pernet. Now, Olivier Filippi, whose work has already been presented in 2014 at Gleichapel, proposes a new fable.

Gleichapel is pleased to present the second part of Vincent Tanguy’s exhibition on the occasion of FIAC 2015. Entitled “Break,” this second stage consists of a series of photographs that portray exhibitors stalls from which the artworks were digitally emptied. The series was made within the walls of the Grand Palais during closing hours of FIAC’s precedent edition.

Gleichapel transforms itself for Vincent Tanguy’s first solo show. Presented in two parts: “Today to Yesterday,” followed by “Break,” the artist takes over the unique space located on rue Debelleyme by exploring the geolocation of the place, as well as its architecture.

Gleichapel, the most intimate art platform in Paris, is delighted to present a special event : To pretend, I actually do the thing: I have therefore only pretended to pretend”, a proposition by Japanese aesthete, artist and philosopher Jun Iwasaki. The exhibition’s title is taken from Jacques Derrida’s famous quote.

Gleichapel, arguably the smallest art platform in Paris, presents a new project this spring by American artist Amy Jean Porter entitled  “Social Butterflies”. This will be the artist’s first exhibition in Paris since her 2005 installation: “Birds of North Africa Speak English and French Both at Once” exhibited at g-module gallery (2001-2008).

For Amy Jean Porter’s installation “Social Butterflies”, she is creating a conservatory to honor an evolutionary moment of butterfly migrations and text messages — both of which are rapidly changing. Her vibrant gouache drawings of butterflies sporting text messages in their wings take over the white cube.

Gleichapel is pleased to announce the first screening in France of Chinese Democracy and the Last Day on Earth (2012-2014), a video trilogy by New York based Italian artist Federico Solmi. 

Chinese Democracy and the Last Day on Earth will be the first edition of a video cycle on drawings in motion, curated by Jeff Gleich and Tristan van der Stegen. It will be exhibited during the Drawing Now Art Fair in Paris (held at the Carreau du Temple, only a few blocks away). A selection of works on paper by Federico Solmi will also be presented and available for sale in support of Gleichapel’s platform.

Gleichapel presents “Do & Hope“, a new project by Peruvian artist, Pier Stockholm, who aspires to merge his studio  environment with Gleichapel’s 9m2 white cube space, viewable from a single window on the street in the upper Marais neighbourhood of Paris.

Gleichapel presents a set of paintings from a series by Olivier Filippi. Initiated in 2012, the works are characterised by the doubling of the height of each new painting in the series. The installation of this group is linked to the particularities of the site – a public window on the street, giving way to a 9 square meter room. Gleichapel is located in the Upper Marais. It is illuminated from 14h – midnight daily.

The platform welcomes Vincent Tanguy, a young french artist for a special appearance during Nuit Blanche Paris 2014. The appearance will take place from 20h30-21h30 saturday 4 october.
