Gleichapel is delighted to present Mother Earth in Paris, a media project by artist duo Pinar&Viola featuring an installation that unveils revamped, contemporary, environmentalist messages of peace.
Their highly aesthetic, visual activism offers an irresistible invitation for a more truthful and humane future.
Mother Earth in Paris takes over the uniquely situated 9m2 art space viewable only by a window from the street. Through a video installation, the main protagonist in the video, ‘Mother Earth’ will reveal her grace and wisdom on a screen surrounded by stylistic and conceptual imagery depicting healing plants. This methodology celebrates the value and wisdom of these plants, seeing them as humankind’s ultimate natural remedy.
Pinar&Viola are creators of highly aesthetic images timeless for socially relevant and conceptual content. They continuously strive to illuminate societal issues in a genuine and charming manner with their visual scenarios. For example, a limited edition porcelain plate collection that celebrates futuristic polyamorous family constellations was created for the exhibition Family Special – Polyamory, presented in a private apartment in Paris, during Paris Fashion Week in June 2014. In another project, the artist duo went global with an online smoking/chat room, offering the internaut to smoke harmless, virtual cigarettes while being surrounded by air-purifying peace lilies.
The duo’s infinite fascination with future trends inspires them to consider Paris as an open technological emporium for new design systems. Such embraces nature, silence, permaculture, planetary awareness and radically practical solutions which are needed to conquer the global challenges that are collectively experienced.
“Our installation will depict the sacredness of nature, the beauty and attractiveness of altruism. With our work, through avant-garde and ethical aesthetics, we initiate people to transgress the limits of societal and materialistic beliefs ” states the dynamic duo.
The project coincides purposefully with COP21, the United Nations Climate Change Conference hosting industrialised countries to encourage them to take on more responsibility for combating anthropogenic climate change.
